St Joseph's & St John the Baptists Catholic Church

Welcome to St Joseph’s and St John the Baptist! We are a vibrant and welcoming Catholic
community in Brighton, with a vision to form disciples of Jesus Christ, to love others, and to serve
our city. Our church buildings are closed at present, but as church we are very much open, with live Mass
every day, daily news, on line groups, and resources for use at home.

We are a community serving each other and the local area – both with practical support and
befriending. If you feel isolated at home, or need practical shopping help or telephone advice, or if you can help
us provide this support, our Lightbulb project can help you for free.

The current lockdown offers a great opportunity to use time well, and think about our faith and the
big questions of life. Join our online Alpha, a weekly series, with each week focussed on one of the
big questions – with opportunities for input, discussion, and getting to know like minded people in
our community.

Starting with the 6pm Mass this Saturday at St John the Baptist

Full details on our news page

There are so many good things to read, watch, or listen to. We have assembled a range of excellent resources that you may find useful, perhaps even more so at this time. We are constantly adding to this, so please keep coming back to this.

Young Adults

We offer loads of opportunities for students and young adults to journey deeper – to explore, discover, make friends, reflect, celebrate, get involved in the life of the church, and make a difference in the local community together.

At this strange time why not take the opportunity to build your faith, explore your faith, or learn more about faith, life, and God from home.

We are currently in the middle of a very successful Alpha online, with a mixture of parishioners and people new to our church. We will start the next one in the near future, so sign up, or talk to us to find out more.

Stay in touch

We entered the lockdown without a good database of parishioners. We would really want to keep everyone informed about all that is going on – please help us by giving us your contact details. Also please fill in our parish Census 2020 form.

Pope Francis tells us what it is to be Christian

Join us online at 7:30 on Tuesday evenings

Currently we are hearing about and discussing the Pope’s call to action to us all

You will:

– learn more about the Pope’s key thinking

– see how this is the core of our parish mission as a church

– discuss what it means for us in Brighton today – individually and together

– enjoy working this through in a friendly informal group
